13th Wedding Anniversary

Created by Mrs 3 years ago

John always kept a diary of sorts, here's an excerpt:

As we were about to leave for school, Rhian said to both Marion and me, “Have a happy thirteenth anniversary!”

Marion and I had lunch at Friends Restaurant. We both the cauliflower soup with toasted almonds for our starter.
Mains: Grilled fillet steak, chips and béarnaise sauce
Fricassee of chicken with spring vegetables and mash
with red wine: Kenton Estate, 2014 (11.5%)
Desserts: Mango and lychee cloud with toasted coconut marshmallow, mango & lime puree
Chocolate assiette: caramelia mousse, salted caramel ice cream, white chocolate crumble, mint gel

Rhian asked me what we were having for supper and when I told her that Marion and I wouldn’t be that hungry because of the three-course lunch we’d had, she said, “Oh!” When I asked her why she was looking disappointed, she replied, “You’ll find out!”
I was then given my fourth present by Marion, which was a bottle of white wine from San Gimignano, one of the places we’d been to on honeymoon. Rhian took Marion and my orders for supper. She gave us both a food and drink menu and wrote down what we wanted on a small notepad! (neither of us was allowed in the kitchen!) She did pasta for both of us, then white wine and Rhian’s homemade dessert!
We watched Laurel and Hardy and Rhian also did a little bit of dancing with me to the music of Laurel and Hardy. (She did all the leading and it ended up with me trying to stop her from falling down!) After she had brushed her teeth she went into her bedroom, and started screaming! She’d seen a small spider!
Rhian told me that Chase (one of her toys) thought it was our fourteenth anniversary!
